Wether you have babies or not, i guess if you're around my age, (or ten years younger or older! 😆) you're sorrounded by them.
Friends, family, neighbours, let's face it, everybody has at least one of those, and you might find yourself more often than not, thinking "what should i get them?" Well, here's an original, cheap, easy to make and full of personality gift you can make. I did it for my nephew, and after seeing the results, made a second batch for him and my baby, who was already on her way.
Here we go: I bought an inexpensive package of onesies with different colors and patterns. Just have in mind the season of the year and baby's age by the time you get them your awesome handmade present. You can buy simple white onesies and paint a pattern yourself, plain different colors, or with patterns like i found. I wanted plain colors but this is what i found and i think they turned out very nice in the end.
You can be 100% creative, or search for cute ideas online. I did my pinterest search, and made a secret board to pin all the ideas i liked out there.
First, i bought fabric paint in different colors, fabric markers and letters to use as a template. I started by sketching around my letters with a black marker and painted them inside with a blue one:
This might seem a little more difficult if you don't have the confidence to paint this way, maybe you don't have the experience. In that case, you can use the "negative" effect: you can write on the fabric what you want with your letters, and paint around with a brush, like i did in this one:
Translation: "sorry dad, now you have 2 bosses". (I never understood if it refers to the actual boss and the baby, or the wife and the baby... I guess it's the second one 😉)
My brush was old and got rough with previous use. I think it contributed to the effect at the edges. You let it dry for a few minutes and then remove the stickers.
For those living in Israel, it looks like a Leumi Bank ad! It was not my intention at all!
The same technique, mixing two tones of green i used here:
For the next one i used the two techniques combined:
For the "negative" technique, this time I used paper rectangles instead of rustic edges:
(Please don't judge me by my tired look! I was pregnant already, just didn't know!)
Or, if you feel confident enough to use your own writing, you can fly solo and just draw or write what you want. I'm not so proud of this one, just because i'm a perfectionist, but i would loved it if i got this present from a loved one, especially for the love they put in it.
And here he is! A happy customer... so cute!!
He is 2 years old already... Time really flies!
Let me know what you think... And feel free to share!!
