I was looking for a young, colorful fresh wallpaper for our new apartment entrance. The space is full of light, and this time we decided to paint all the walls white, and add some colour touches. So at first I was very excited to go wallpaper shopping. Then, when I knew how pricey wallpapers can be, was a little dissappointed; and since I needed no more than 2,5m2, it became especially expensive, and I also needed to wait about a month for it to arrive.

So I decided to take the matter into my own hands. At my favourite store, I saw a new design, but like I said before, too expensive and would take too long to arrive. This is it:

So, as it was geometrical, and not very hard to copy, I took the chance. At the same store (so I wouldn't feel that bad about copying the design), I bought contact paper in plain colours (for about a third of the price) and headed home very excited again.

Because i'm a perfectionist, i wanted it to be perfect before i started cutting the contact paper. So I made a sort of simulator to arrange the colours and be sure it will look nice.

Once I chose the best option, I made a paperboard template (I'm a lazy perfectionist!) so that I didn't have to measure every time. The equilateral triangle has the paper saving advantage. A few lines on the paper and you have a bunch of triangles ready.

Then I made some marks on the wall, to know where to start, and begun having fun!

Although I like my projects to look perfect, I have to admit I like the fact that there are a few flaws in this one. People have said "how cool!" And after looking at it for a little while, they would say "wait a minute, YOU did it?" You know, what's the point in making it perfect? The whole point of DIY is to have fun, make it affordable, and reflect your unique personality...

What do you think?
